SOULNOTE E-1 ver.2

PHONO EQUALIZER Silver / Black

TECHNOLOGY

Optical cartridge input

In addition to MC/MM inputs, an optical cartridge input has been added. For a product in this class, it is unusual to employ discrete non-NFB circuit in all analogue circuits.

“New Type-R Circuit”

The output amplifier incorporates the “New Type-R Circuit” developed for SOULNOTE’s flagship phono equalizer E-3. The dedicated power supply for the optical cartridge also employs the same discrete non-NFB regulator found in higher-end models. This forms the source of its organic and warm sound.

Refined MC/MM circuit

The equalizer circuit has been simplified and a newly developed bias circuit introduced. This has led to an improvement in the sound quality of MC/MM cartridges.

Balanced input circuit (at MC input)

A balanced input for MC cartridges is adopted.  When using XLR two-core shielded cables for balanced inputs, the E-1ver.2 becomes a perfectly balanced non-NFB phono equalizer from input to output.
This creates an overwhelming soundscape that expands in three dimensions and sounds with a delicateness that will resonate in your soul.

Remarks : Setting the operation selector to balanced RCA inputs allows for balanced inputs, but it is effectively an unshielded setup and some noise may be produced. The operation selector is not an input selector. To ensure the best sound quality, the HOT RCA terminal and the 2nd XLR terminal pin are connected internally, as are the COLD RCA terminal (GND) and the 3rd XLR terminal pin.
As a result, it is impossible to switch between two record players connected to the RCA and XLR terminals.
* The default setting is unbalanced (NORMAL)

Toroidal power supply transformer & non-NFB power supply

A 260VA non-impregnated large toroidal transformer is incorporated into the phono equalizer. Darlington ripple filter circuits, fast recovery diodes, and ten parallel 1,000μF filter capacitors combine in a non-NFB power supply that creates an inexhaustible sense of lightness.

Direct mechanical grounding construction

A three-point support configuration — one at the front and two at the rear — enables the placement of one foot directly beneath the transformer. This achieves a mechanical grounding that allows transformer vibrations to be directly released outside the chassis. As a result, the fuzziness of the sound caused by chassis dumps can be removed and the soul of sound can be reproduced.

Input load impedance selection function (LOAD selector)

Choose between 1k, 300, 100, 30, 10, and 3 Ω (for MC input).

MM input

Pressing the MM button enables the use of MM cartridges and MC step up transformers.

Ultra-low range cutoff (subsonic filter)

Turning the LOW CUT switch ON reduces woofer movement as a result of record warping. (only MC/MM mode)
